Acupuncture

What is acupuncture?

It is a thousands year old practice when needles are inserted in specific trigger points on the body. The needles are very fine, filiform, and their insertion is painless.

What is the effect of acupuncture?

It can influence tissues, organ and glands, with the effect of reducing pain, reducing inflammation, and inducing healing even of old injuries.

What is the acupuncture mechanism?

The Western science does not have a clear explanation yet, but acupuncture was shown to affect the central and the peripheral nervous system, the connective tissue and to increase blood flow to the targeted areas. In the brain it releases endorphins, enkephalins and neurotransmitters, stopping pain and balancing the brain and the hormones functions. It activates the parasympathetic nervous system, which induces relaxation and allows healing to occur.

For what conditions to use acupuncture?

Any condition which is NOT an emergency, when 911 should be called, acupuncture helps, from any type of pain, to regulation of emotions, of hormones, any digestive issue, reproductive difficulties, etc.

Side effects can be?

On occasion a slight discomfort during the needle insertion. A slight bleeding at the site of insertion, but mostly feeling painless, happy and well after a treatment!

How dry needling differs from acupuncture?

Dry needling uses the same type of needles, inserted in acupuncture points close to a painful area, and focuses on the muscle tissue.
